KICKBOX gives you the opportunity to work on your own idea and develop it further within VITO. You are the CEO of your idea - you will be supported by a Program Lead Team and coaches to ensure a smooth KICKBOX journey.

What do you get?
We are ready to support your innovation journey with an online platform, time & budget, individual coaching and a toolbox!
Platform
An online VITO KICKBOX community and platform where you can submit and manage your ideas, and reach out to colleagues, coaches and the KICKBOX team!
Time & Budget
You get assigned work time and a project budget to get started on our own idea. Your PM will have authorized this together with Management, no need to worry!
Coaching
We offer individual coaching and support tailored to you and your idea throughout the entire journey. The KICKBOX Program Lead Team gives extra support in case of any other questions.
Toolbox
You will receive one of our infamous physical toolboxs, full of gadgets and tools. In there, you will find the KICKBOOK, to guide you and support your journey, making it more tangible and fun.

You have 2 months to validate your idea. You will receive access to an online platform and coaching with experts. With a budget of 1000 Coins, you can take advantage of various services, such as legal advice or technical support. In the end, you have to convince a jury with a pitch to invest further in your idea.

Was your idea convincing during the pitch presentation?
Congrats! You have reached an important milestone.

The 4 to 6-month BlueBox phase to pilot your idea begins now. You can test your idea with real customers. You will also have access to coaching, sprint workshops, and helpful innovation modules. At the end of this phase, you will once again have to convince the jury with a pitch.

Congratulations, you have reached the final GoldBox phase!

Now you are ready to implement your idea. Depending on the idea and the size of your project, there are different ways and forms of implementation you can choose. You will be supported and accompanied on this path with different resources and tools.

Nils is the KICKBOX initiator at VITO. As part of the Technology Transfer Office, he has the ambition to promote a organizational culture shift towards creating an open space for intrapreneurship and boosting idea generation at VITO.

Intrapreneurship & Startup Specialist
Rik plays a key role in supporting the KICKBOX program at VITO. As a member of the Venturing Department, he is dedicated to fostering a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship within the organization.
Anse Smeets
R&D Circular Business Model Innovation
Anse works in business models for circular economy, so innovation is part of her every day! As one of the Young Advisory Board members, she thrives to give visibility to ideas coming from all around VITO: everyone, of all ages, is welcome.
Catarina Baptista
R&D Engineer Water
As an R&D Engineer, Catarina believes that innovation must bring research closer to societal impact. She is a member of the Young Advisory Board, and wants to promote a low threshold for the ideation process: make it easy and lean!
Pilar Mejia
PhD Circular Business models
As a PhD Researcher, Pilar aims to grasp the collaboration between startups and stakeholders in the context of circular business models. She has experience in business development and corporate entrepreneurship projects.
Léa Tatry
R&D Energy and Climate modelling
Léa works in the field of energy transition, so she knows the importance of innovation in the context of business models and market volrization. She also has previous experience as entrepreneur in a start-ups incubator.
